AREAS AFFECTED: Saline, KS

DESCRIPTION: ...The National Weather Service in Wichita KS has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Kansas... Mulberry Creek Near Salina affecting Saline County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Mulberry Creek near Salina. * WHEN...From late tonight to early Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...At 26.0 feet, Widespread agricultural flooding can be expected. Depending on if high flows are present on the Saline River this may backup water on Mulberry Creek which would cause the property on the KOA campground to flood. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:00 PM CDT Monday the stage was 3.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late tonight to a crest of 25.5 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage early tomorrow afternoon. - Flood stage is 24.0 feet.

INSTRUCTION: Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued late tonight at 1230 AM CDT.

A contrail is an artificial cloud, created by the passing of an aircraft.

Contrails form because water vapor in the exhaust of aircraft engines is suspended in the air under certain temperatures and humidity conditions. These contrails are called exhaust contrails.

Another type of contrail can form due to a temporary reduction in air pressure moving over the plane's surface, causing condensation. These are called aerodynamic contrails.

When you can see your breath on a cold day, it is also because of condensation. The reason contrails last longer than the condensation from your breath is because the water in contrails freezes into ice particles.

Cumulus clouds are fluffy and textured with rounded tops, and may have flat bottoms. The border of a cumulus cloud is clearly defined, and can have the appearance of cotton or cauliflower.

Cumulus clouds form at low altitudes (rarely above 2 km) but can grow very tall, becoming cumulus congestus and possibly the even taller cumulonimbus clouds. When cumulus clouds become taller, they have a greater chance of producing precipitation.
